Attracting Or Creating

The term “Law of Attraction” is usually considered a new age idea that represents a law of nature. The premise is that thought causes manifestation of circumstances related to how one thinks; that how one thinks determines or attracts what one experiences. The Universal Law of Attraction is based upon empirical observation and the conclusion is that thought influences the subjective field of creation as a cause and produces like effects. For eons it has been known that behind the appearance of objects is a subjective field, the birthplace of matter.

It is proposed that the quality of our thinking is a determining factor in the creative process and it is worth noting that there is a distinct difference between fantasies and creative thought. There have been a number of mind experiments conducted by reputable researchers that meet scientific criteria, which show a direct influence of thought on far and near subjects. Some of these experiments also point to the fact that fanciful or random thoughts have little effect on changing anything.  

This is good news for those who have weird and bizarre thoughts (this includes all of us) as these have little impact upon creating a weird and fanciful world; unless of course a lot of planning, energy and time are put into those thoughts. It is possible to create destruction and chaos (as we see represented in the daily news reports) that are the results of a certain way of thinking and acting.  

A common frustration in an attempt to manipulate the Universal Law of Attraction to our benefit is to set goals that are outside our realm of influence. We can focus on wealth acquisition forever but if we do not use or develop some strategy that taps into the natural flow of money we will forever be wanting. If we want to become the president of a successful multinational company but do not have the creativity, leadership or management skills as well as the proper education, experience and connections, this goal is only a fantasy and will never become a reality.

We must start where we are, here and now, and decide what is wanted next. Then comes actions and behaviors that are congruent with the stated desire and the current environment. We need to move toward creating a harmonious environment by negating, distancing or eliminating environmental factors that are obstacles to our purpose. It is very advantageous if not necessary to be open and prepared to experience surprises and serendipity. It should also be noted that if we are not somewhat uncomfortable it is unlikely that we are making little progress in creating change. Attainment of any desire requires stepping into uncharted areas and this can be confronting. If we do not think differently, act differently and feel differently we will continue to have the life we are currently attracting.

We Are Always Creating
There is never a time when we are not creating something. Who we are in body, mind and spirit is creating the life we are currently experiencing. Most of us have an innate motivation to move beyond our current limitations, to evolve. To be fulfilled we must evolve. We cannot control or manipulate life exactly as we design; we have a lot of competition from others who want it their way as well. We can, however, move toward being the person we would like to be, have the things that serve us and enjoy life as it is. We probably have more control over our life than we imagine. Just because there are factors that are beyond our personal control doesn’t absolve us from our responsibility to pursue possibilities and work at consciously creating what we want.  

It may be more appropriate to refer to the Universal Law of Attraction as one of the laws of creation. Without a personal law of creation we would merely be robots destined to live in a mechanical Universe devoid of love and beauty. We are creators. We create our reality by the choices we make and the action we take. All of us have the ability to improve our lives even if it is only one small step at a time; small steps eventually take us a long way. It’s a grand adventure, let’s enjoy it.
